R. H. ‘Ronnie’ Battist
Sunrise Trail
Ronald Henry Battist - 71, of the Sunrise Trail, Pictou County, passed away on Nov 21, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Pictou and raised in Sundridge, he was the eldest son of the late Henry and Lois (Langille) Battist. Devoted husband to LaVerne, she best describes him saying “He was an electrician and he lit up my life”, as he did for the many who knew and loved him.
Ronnie was full of fun, laughter and a ready smile. He will be remembered as a social butterfly, jack of all trades, and being only a call away with a helping hand. Ronnie was for many, one of the best men ever known, a role model who was well respected for his strong work ethic, warm heart and outgoing personality. He was a natural family historian, full of wisdom and advice. He will be greatly missed by those who love him and had the pleasure of knowing him.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, LaVerne (Steele), son, Wade (Jacqueline) Battist, Alberta; daughter, LaurettaLynn (Dave) Stewart, Limerock; sister, Linda Eddy, New Glasgow; brother, Maton (Anita) Battist , Sundridge; sister, Robin (Roy) McIntyre, Sundridge; grandchildren, Ronnie, Emily and Thomas. Public visitation will be held 3-5 PM Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A private service for family and friends will take place. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
