Cornelius ‘Connie’  MacSween

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Cornelius ‘Connie’ MacSween, age 70 of New Victoria, announce his peaceful passing at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care on November 25th, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Connie was born in New Waterford on December 7, 1945 to the late John and Bessie (Jennex) MacSween. Connie grew up in New Victoria and worked as an auto body mechanic for many years for Dougie Flint until 1976 when he started working in the coal mines as a mechanic at Lingan, Phalen and Prince Mines. He enjoyed working in his garage and restoring cars. He was well known for his skills as an auto body man and was in high demand for many years. Affectionately known as ‘Poppy Boop Boop’, his grandchildren meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Left to mourn, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda (Anna) MacDonald; his sons, John (Val), Ronnie (Natashia); grandsons, Tristan, Brandon and Nicholas; sister, Anita (John) Martell; brothers-in-law, Neil (Gabby) and Wayne (Maureen); sisters-in-law, Marion Lewis, Donna MacDonald, Sheila MacDonald, Sharon MacDonald and Martha Ropeck. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donnie; sister, Stella (Willie) White; brother-in-law, Ronnie MacDonald and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rannie and Mamie MacDonald. Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
Visitation for Connie will take place on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Fr. Ray Huntley will officiate. A luncheon will be held at St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street, following the funeral service. We would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Shannex Harbourstone Care Facility, second floor, Kenwood Building.
