Wilfred Cecil Hardy, of Sydney, passed away Sunday, November 27, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Ingonish, he was the son of the late Levi and Mary Chatfield (Canning) Hardy.
Wilfred was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, North Ingonish. For many years he was self-employed as a carpet layer and furniture upholsterer. He drove the Bookmobile in Baddeck and also worked several years with Amway. Wilfred served overseas in WWII and on his return he worked at Pier 21 in Halifax.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald (Barb), Vancouver and several nieces and nephews, also his late wife’s son, Frank, Sydney.
Wilfred was predeceased by his wife, Jean; sisters, Gladys, Elsie, Elizabeth and Mabel; brothers, Gordon, Richard, Harold, William and Claude.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1-2 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, North Ingonish. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Carolyn Sharp officiating. Interment following in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, St. John’s Church, Memorial Fund, or charity of choice.
