Harold Frederick Little

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Harold Frederick Little age 94 of Amherst and formerly of Maccan, announce his passing on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Saint John, NB he was a son of the late Harold A. and Marie E. (DeLucry) Little.
Harold was employed at T. McAvity and Sons as a machine operator in Saint John, NB for 10 years and later moved to Maccan and worked for Canada Electric Plant (later known as NS Power) until his retirement in 1986 after 33 years of service. Harold enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading, boating, working around his cottage in Jackson’s Point, tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable garden in Maccan. Known for his softspoken and kind demeanor, he had unconditional love for his family and could often be found humming an old tune or making people laugh with an unexpected joke.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years the former Doris Canning, two daughters Carolyn (Hartney) Spicer of Maccan and Cindy (James) Burbine of Upper Rawdon, NS, sisters Eleanor Horgan, Coleen (Thomas) Mantle, Christina Black and Betty Ann Bowes all of Saint John, NB, four grandchildren Kim Ayer Spicer, Jaime (Kim) Spicer, Kalena (Justin) Boudreau and Kale (Kelley) Burbine, five great grandchildren Kaylee, Devon, Kailen, Ryleigh and Reid and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Ann Little and brothers Francis, Joseph, James, John “Jackie” and Charles in infancy.
Harold was a self-taught computer user beginning at age 80, who enjoyed receiving picture e-mails from his grandchildren and could often be spotted with his e-reader or the instruction booklet for his newest electronic device. Harold is lovingly remembered for sitting in his special lawn chair at the cottage with his four legged best friend Buddy by his side, watching the sunset. We know they are together again, never missing another colorful evening at Jackson’s Point.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
