Dorie (Doris) Isabelle Casey, age 93, of Amherst N.S. passed away peacefully on Saturday November 26, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Facility. Dorie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arch and Maggie Hill, Carl Casey, her husband of 60 years, five brothers, seven sisters and two grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Ray Gallant) of Amherst, NS and Linda (Gilbert Arseneau) of Riverview, NB, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Dorie looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed visits from family and friends. Much time was spent knitting beautiful socks or hand sewing a quilt that many charitable groups benefited from.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec.2nd at 2:00 pm at the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, followed by a reception in the Grand Room at the Holy Family Church in Amherst.
Family flowers only. Donations in Dorie's memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Facility or to the charity of your choice.
