It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a loving sister, aunt, grand-aunt and friend. Olga, age 78, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully December 2, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her loving family at her side.
Born in New Waterford, March 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ana (Mirt) Abraham and was a long time and faithful member of the former Mount Carmel Parish and currently the Parish of St. Leonard's, New Waterford. Olga was employed as an instructor at the Nova Scotia Community College, Marconi Campus, Sydney. While there she truly enjoyed her position that enabled her to meet and teach thousands of students spanning her 30 year career. Olga will be sadly missed by her loving family; brother, Joe (Madeline), Sydney; niece, Debora (Ronnie) MacDonald, Bedford; nephew, Joey (Tara) Abraham, Guelph, ON and two special grand-nieces, Julia and Emma Abraham. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Annie Agnes Abraham in 2013
In honoring Olga's wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016, in St. Leonard's Parish Church, Mount Carmel Ave., New Waterford. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Ave., New Waterford. Memorial donations in memory of Olga, may be made to the Palliative Care Society, or to the Parish Church of St. Leonard's.
