It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden, untimely passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend, Todd ‘Buddy’ Tighe on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at home. Todd Clarence ‘Buddy’ Tighe was born in South Bar on July 16, 1961, where he loved and lived his life out. Todd was employed with A&L Seafoods for many years where he made numerous friends, including Stuart, Bimbo and great buddy, Brian Fraser with whom he commuted daily. Todd was a common sight peddling through South Bar and the Pier, with a smile for everyone, stopping in for regular visits with his special Uncle Arch and good friend, Philip Quinn. He also enjoyed his many calls to Aunt ‘Mar’ discussing current events and recipes. Each Sunday when he could, was spent visiting his Mom and best friend’s grave in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Todd enjoyed his Friday night dart league at the South Bar Fire Hall for many years with his beloved mother, Kaye, whose death two years ago left a deep void in Buddy’s life.
Buddy is survived by brothers, Kevin (Charlene), Glenn (Colleen), Freddie (Marguerite) and Jerry (Wanda); sisters, Earlene (Wally) and Connie (Rodney); uncles, Clarence 'Arch' MacPhail, John King, Wallace Tighe and his dear Aunt, Mar. He is also survived by 11 nieces and six nephews who adored him; 19 grand-nieces and nephews along with numerous cousins. Buddy is predeceased by mother, Catherine ‘Kaye’ (MacPhail); father, Clarence Tighe; maternal grandparents, Clara and Jack MacPhail; paternal grandparents, Cassie and Thomas Tighe, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial Mass for the late Todd Clarence ‘Buddy’ Tighe will be celebrated on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Victoria Mines. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Buddy may be made to charity of one’s choice.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com.
