The family of the late Marion Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson, age 87 is saddened to announce her passing on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS.
Betty was born on January 16, 1929 in Liverpool, NS to Durling and Mary (Cole) Hatt.
She is survived by her children Sharon (Ronnie) Mason, New Glasgow, Susan (Lawrence) Boudreau, Dartmouth, Billy (Marilyn), Sydney, Australia, Anne Wilson (Stephen Thurston), Beaverbank, Peggy Wilson, Stellarton, David (Krista), Stellarton, Michael (Jacquie), Antigonish and Lesley (Allan) Holmes, New Glasgow, her brother, Gerald (Helen) Hatt, Liverpool NS. Betty was grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 11, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 55 years, William Benjamin Wilson in 2004, her brothers, Kenneth, Buddy and Lawrence and sisters, Rene and Eleanor.
Betty’s love of family, friends, food and the outdoors dominated her activities. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved and it was in this way that she left us. Her last year was one we didn’t think she would have and we shared every minute with laughter, tears, memories and love.
Arrangements are under the direction of the HW Angus funeral home, New Glasgow. Visitation from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday December 12, 2016. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family burial at Lorne St Cemetery, New Glasgow NS.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer Society, IWK Children’s Hospital, the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow.
Special thanks to Dr. Kwasnik and the Palliative Care Staff, Dr Gregor MacLean, Jack, Leah and staff of Poulains Pharmacy, Stellarton for above and beyond care and support of Mom and her family. Also to her church family and her friends of so many years who shared a lifetime of love and care. We are so grateful for the many caregivers who made it possible for Mom to remain at home and her very special caregiver, Jane Winmill, who is loved and adored by Mom and all the family.
