Let us tell you about our beautiful mother/grandmother Sheila Grace Rodney Miller who passed away Monday morning December 12 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Sheila was adored and loved by many because she valued people. Her ability to accept you without judgement and her forgiving nature drew you to her. Her love of life and her free spirit were infectious. She was born in Yarmouth, N.S. on August 17, 1942 to Wave and Verna (Meyers) Rodney, she had three siblings Doug (deceased), Gary and Amber. She became a nurse at a young age and practiced in Ontario where she met her first husband Wayne Willison. Together they had two daughters, Pamela Willison (Mark) Spurlock and Sonda Mutch. She briefly moved to Montreal to become an esthetician, upon completion she moved back home to open a practice in Yarmouth where she would reside for the remainder of her days. She married her second husband John Miller and they had a son Michael Miller. Through John she has seven step children, John, Suzie, Mindy, Jeb, Meg, Joanna, and Bridget. She leaves four grandchildren, Megan Mutch, Charis Mutch, Samuel Mutch and Novia Miller. She is also predeceased by her son-in-law Victor Mutch. Her most recent accomplishment was obtaining her pastoral license, which led to prison ministry and a trip to Mozambique, Africa, to help in an orphanage. However, throughout her entire life she was an accomplished artist and her paintings are part of her legacy that will live on. Another part of her legacy is her influence on those who knew her, which is evident by the outpouring of the love from you, who have surrounded her through her long and arduous battle with cancer. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A gathering to remember Sheila’s life was held at Evangel Assembly Friday, December 16 at 2pm. Donations can be made to New life Church or irisglobal.org, the orphanage in Africa.
