1932-2016

Phyllis Margaret Olive Young of Riverview, NB, passed away peacefully at Serenacare Nursing Home on December 10, 2016. Phyllis, surrounded by loving family, passed away four days after losing her true love John Robert Young. Phyllis was a proud Newfoundlander. She was born in Corner Brook, NL and was the daughter of the late James and Olive Read.
She was predeceased by two infant children, Lorelei Roberta and Raymond Scott.
Phyllis was a nurse in New Glasgow, NS and also enjoyed selling Real Estate. Phyllis and John moved to Moncton, NB in the 1970s after John received a transfer with CN Rail.
Phyllis was an avid gardener, loved flowers and one of her favorite pastimes was lawn bowling. Phyllis was a member of Centennial Lawn Bowling and travelled Canada with her Lawn Bowling Team.
A very special thank you to Susan Dixson, Leslie (Baby), Nancy, and Carrie and all the wonderful staff at Serenacare. Your loving care for both John and Phyllis over the past three years has provided an immeasurable amount of support. We know how much John and Phyllis (momma) meant to you all and we are grateful to have had you in our lives helping them until the end.
May Phyllis once again dance with her Johnny.
Phyllis leaves to mourn 5 nephews, Dr Wally Read (Heather), David (Gail), Chris (Denise) and Greg (Wendy) Read of NL and Larry Martin of Arkansas. Phyllis also leaves very special family friends Larry, Lesley, Kate and Lauren Gautreau and Karen and George Demmons as well as her Harvard Court family.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 12pm to 1pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1pm with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. The interment will take place in Heatherdale Cemetery, Pictou, NS.
Donations made to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
