Kenneth Archibald “Ken” Best - of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at home. Born in Prospect, Kings County, he was a son of the late Archibald and Jessie (Aalders) Best. He developed a love for Chev trucks and had been employed as General Sales Manager for Cornwallis Motors, New Minas and also as Sales Manager with Ellis Chev Olds, Digby. Ken enjoyed being a hobby farmer and was very fond of animals, especially horses. A talented musician, Ken took the lead with The Journeymen Band and later formed The Silverado Band. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Margaret (Richards); three daughters, Pamela Best and her daughter, Maddy; Holly and her children, Lisa, Jamie, Andrea, Jenna, Adam and Logan; Heather and her children, Brody, Dayla, Shiana and Samantha; two sons, Kenneth Jr. (Jeanne) and their son, Tristan; Darren (Andrea) and their sons, Mitchell and Benjamin; three step-daughters, Dawn (Jim) Woodman-Doyle and their daughter, MacKenzie; Lori Woodman; and Beverly Foster (Peter Lewis) and children, Taylor, Haileigh, Jacob and Lauryn; many great grandchildren; many loving special nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Cochrane and Marjorie Best; brother-in-law, Wayne (Florence) Cochrane; a foster sister, Doris Schofield; and other extended family members. He was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite; three brothers, Gerald, Murray and Herb. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016. A private family interment will take place in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Hants County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
