It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Elias Campbell at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Main-a-Dieu, he was the son of the late Elias and Loretta (Lahey) Campbell. He was a fisherman by trade and enjoyed the challenge of a hard day’s work. So much so that the ocean was like his second home. When on the water he was in his element. In his spare time he loved spending time with the grand kids and enjoyed getting together with family and friends for a good game of tarbish or darts. He enjoyed many trips to the Athletic Club. He was a friend to many and a pleasure to be around. Elias was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Elias is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (Bagnell) Campbell; his children, Bryan (Judy), Bateston, Bonnie (Robert) Tutty, Mira, Darrol (Diane) Catalone Gut, Corrine Campbell, Sydney; his wonderful grandchildren, Kyle, Brittany, Bryanna, Baylee, Mitchell, Madisyn, Kelly and Nikita (who all loved to spend time with their Gramp); his precious great-grandchildren, June, Harvey, Nina and Genevieve. He is also survived by his siblings, Catherine Backwell,Oshawa, Ont., Henora Gibbon, Ottawa, Ont., Lucy Selazzo (Pat), Sydney, Elizabeth Campbell, Main-a Dieu, Delores Coles, Sydney, Loretta Parsons (John),Louisbourg, Naisha Richards (Jackie), Sydney, Tish Giacomini, Sydney, brother,Angus Campbell (Lillian); as well as many nieces and nephews and his furry best friend and companion, Taz. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Burke, Priscilla Foster, Aloysuis Campbell, Philiminia Campbell, Victor Campbell, Eileen Lavin and Bud Campbell, as well as his mother and father-in-law, Nellie and Nelson Bagnell.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 26, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, Main-a-Dieu with a service to follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Father Bill Burke officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
