MOORE, George Leon - 62, Truro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 11, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Robert and Stella (McCallum) Moore. George was a Senior Groundskeeper at Truro Cemetery Corporation where he worked for 37 years caring for Robie Street Cemetery, Terrace Hill Cemetery and also Hilden Cemetery. He was a member of St. David's United Church, Bible Hill. George was an avid motorcyclist who always enjoyed being out driving around the countryside with his wife Carrie. He loved to sketch and also enjoyed oil painting. George had many friends and will be greatly missed. His favourite motto was "four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul". George is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Carrie Louise (Minard) Moore; children Donald James Moore, Cindy Dawn Moore (Billy Nichols), Leon Osborne (Dede) Moore; step children, Michael Sisco, Suzanne Surette-Adshead, Jennifer Surette (Butch Belanger); 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Garfield (Cathy) Moore, Arthur (Doreen) Moore, Murray (Marie) Moore; sisters, Eileen (Jimmy) Johnson, Marg (Late, Jim) White, Jean (Late, Sherman) Marr, Georgina Clyke (Kenny Maxwell), Donna (Alan) Whitford; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, John Moore. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017, in St. David’s United Church, corner of St. David’s Avenue and Pictou Road, Bible Hill, Reverend Donna Lawrence officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date in Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in George’s memory to Palliative Care Unit (CEHHC) or Truro Cemetery Corporation are welcomed.
