John was born on March 15, 1926 at the family home in Springfeldt, SK to Cornelius & Katherina Wiebe. John worked as a journeyman carpenter at MacWilliam Construction for 25 years, as well as doing what he loved most, which was farming. He was a very hard worker, dedicating himself to all that he did. John had a very generous spirit. His faith was also so important to him, and he lived it out daily throughout his life. Family meant everything to John. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, leaving us all with a rich legacy of love. John loved watching sports, camping, sharing stories and laughter. In his retirement years, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and spending time outdoors. After retiring, John & Mary moved from the farm to Swift Current, and really enjoyed going out for their morning coffees with family, rarely missing a day. John spent his final difficult month in the hospital, moving to “The Meadows” for his last 2 days. Although we are so truly grateful for his heavenly home, he will be greatly missed by his family. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00am from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK, with Rev. Herman Wiebe officiating. The pianist for the service was Barb Klassen. “Are You Washed in the Blood” and “When We All Get to Heaven” were sung by the congregation. Tributes were shared by the grandchildren with Rod Wiebe reading the eulogy. Special music was provided by John Duncan singing, “It Is Well with My Soul”. The ushers in the church were Robert Klassen and Stan Klassen. The Interment Service was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, Douglas Penner, Andrew Wiebe, Travis Wiebe, Clifton Freeman, Jean Fataki and Dustin Garies.
