It is with heartfelt sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of Garfield Cann (90), on Jan. 4, 2016 at The Cove Guest Home.
Born and raised in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late Arthur and Julia (Townsend) Cann. Garfield is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (MacLeod) Cann of 67 years. He is also survived by his son, Roger (Susan Spellman Cann) and grandchildren, Julie and Andrew.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Enoch and Issac. He leaves behind many treasured relatives and friends.
Garf was employed by National Sea Products for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Fortress Seniors Club. Many treasured memories were held at their summer cottage out on the Mira. Words cannot express the gratitude for the exceptional care by the staffs at the Sherbrooke and the Cove Guest Homes as well as City Homemakers Service Society. Visitation for Garfield will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Bartholomew's Church, Louisbourg.
Funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at 11a.m. also at St. Bartholomew's Church, with Rev. Reg MacDonald officiating, burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to St. Bartholomew's Cemetery Fund or a charity of one's choice.
