On January 8, 2017, Derrick Hoyt Green passed away peacefully at the HSC in the presence of his loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Montreal, August 25, 1956, Derrick was predeceased by his mother, Frances Mae Green (Hoyt). A resident of Colliers, he leaves to celebrate his life with loving memories, his devoted wife of 22 years, Sharon (Sheppard) and daughters - Natalie and Rachael; his father, Raymond (Patsy); sister Julie (Bruce Janes); mother-in-law, Mary Sheppard (Gerald, deceased); brothers-in-law: Nath (Maureen) Sheppard; Gerald (Debbie) Sheppard; Wayne (Mary) Sheppard; sister-in-law Daphne (Doug Alley), and numerous nephews and nieces. Derrick worked in the telecommunications (Fibre Optic) field with Nortel, Bell Canada and Expertech. He also served a period on the Colliers Town Council. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's. Funeral service will take place at the Church of the Resurrection, South River, on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 am with inurnment at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road, St. John's.
