HAROLD “MAX” STRICKLAND
April 22, 1925- January 10, 2017


It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold “Max” Strickland announces his passing on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 91. Born in North Bay, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Fanny (Taylor) Strickland. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Hilda, of 69 years, son, Norman(Myrtle) Strickland, Port-aux-Basques, daughters, May Francis, Port-aux-Basques, Ruby (Chris) Claire, Halifax, NS, daughters-in-law, Gladys and Bertha, sisters, Shirley Burgess, Chatham, ON, Elsie(Don) Oram, Thunder Bay, ON, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, sister-in-law Violet Taylor, as well a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sons, Andrew and James, son-in-law Chelsey Francis, sister Ruby, brothers-in-law Eric Strickland and Dave Burgess. The family will be receiving family and friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port-aux-Basques on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m from Wesley United Church with Rev. Kathleen Anderson officiating. Interment to follow at Wesley United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Max’ can be made to charity of one’s choice.
