Peter Francis

Francis, Peter Joseph, 48 of Shore Road, Pictou Landing First Nation, passed away January 14, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Lewis Joseph and Ruby Irene (Knockwood) Francis.
Peter was a life-long resident of Pictou Landing First Nation. He was a heavy equipment operator who worked in Massachusetts. He worked as a fisherman in Pictou Landing where he fished lobster and snow crab. He also enjoyed making drums from the hide to the actual finished drum, as well he worked at carpentry.
He is survived by his wife Donna Toney, Pictou Landing First Nation; a son Corey MacDonald, Halifax; a brother Kenneth (Alice), Pictou Landing First Nation; sisters: Sarah Clark and Margaret Francis, both of Pictou Landing First Nation; a foster sister Frances Nicholas, Pictou Landing First Nation; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Doug, Matthew, Joseph, Wilfred, Gerald, Lawrence “Larry,” Noel and a twin brother in infancy, a sister Brenda Francis.
His remains will rest at his late residence at 124 Shore Road, Pictou Landing First Nation after 4 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation with Father Tom MacNeil presiding.
Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
