With broken hearts and beautiful memories we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, Dorothy Catherine (Boudreau) Shaw on Sunday, January 15th at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney she was the daughter of the late Elias and Catherine (Snow) Boudreau. Dorothy was well known for her love of cooking, in younger years Dorothy had a home bakery and in later years managed the cafeteria at the school in St. Peters. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy was especially proud of her grandchildren, she always followed their activities and accomplishments and could often be caught boasting about them to anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her loving children, Debbie (Richard) MacLeod, Juniper Mtn., Donald (Wanda) Shaw, Dutch Brook, Dale (Ronald) Henneberry, Cow Bay, Derrick (Karen) Shaw, Dunster B.C. and David (Jenny) Shaw; her grandchildren, Breanna (Brett) Smith, Maggie MacLeod, Ashley Shaw, Brandon Shaw, Andrew Henneberry, Mark Henneberry, Madelyn Shaw, Rozina Shaw and Catherine Shaw. Also survived by her loving brothers and sisters, Bernie (Connie) Boudreau, Ontario, Michael (Linda) Boudreau, Coxheath, Caroline (Donald) Ross, West Chezzetcook, Francis (Bonnie) Boubreau, Coxheath, Raymond (Allison) Boudreau, Edmonton, Linda (Read) Johnston, Glace Bay and Denise (Alan) Richardson, Hampden, Maine. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Donald Shaw and parents, Elias and Catherine Boudreau.
No visitation at Dorothy’s request. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 18th at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Johnstown, Father Philitoski presiding. Interment will follow at Lochside Cemetery, Loch Lomond. The family would like to thank the V.O.N. for their wonderful care and special thanks to moms palliative care nurse, Jackie Brake, along with Amy, Dr. John Ritter, Dr. A.F. D’Intino, and Dr. Abboud.
Memorials may be made to the palliative care An Cala unit or the patient care fund at the Cape Breton regional hospital. Nana, Mom, you decorated our lives with many memories that we will cherish forever.
