NEW GLASGOW – Eileen Clair Wilson, 93, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Bennett Street, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 16, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Harbour, she was a daughter of the late George Tupper and Katherine Margaret (Lowe) Luddington.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed with the former Goodman Company Ltd., New Glasgow and as a personal caregiver. Eileen was a faithful member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow for many years, where she served with the Ladies Aid, Robes and Fishes, Visitation Committee and where possible. She was an active volunteer for many years as a Cub leader and campaigning for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Eileen enjoyed sewing, spending time in New Harbour and cherished time spent with family. A lady, who possessed an enduring trust in her Lord, she now and forever, enjoys His promise to her.
Surviving are daughters, Ruth (Benedikt) Lagundzija, New Harbour; Donna Fraser, Trenton; Cheryl (Bill) Stacey, Centreville; son, Peter (Carol) Wilson, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay; grandchildren, Cindy, Paul, Rhonda, Donna, Jennifer, Zachary, Jodie, Jillian, Joshua and Breeauń; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Willett, Truro; Jean (Watson) Sangster, New Glasgow; Ina Burke, Dartmouth; brother-in-law, Alex Sangster, New Glasgow; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Irma Sangster; brother, Roland; daughter-in-law, Sally; son-in-law, Jerry Fraser; sister-in-law, Frances Luddington; brothers-in-law, Larry Willett and Wally Burke.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow with Rev. John Dunnett and Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made in Eileen’s memory to the New Harbour Baptist Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
