Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton on Sunday, January 15, 2017, with his family by his side, of Leo Joseph Richard, of Tignish age 80 years. Beloved husband to Marina (nee Perry) Richard. Born at Tignish on April 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mae (nee Peters) Richard. Dear father to Allie (Betty Ann) of Tignish, Ronnie (Patsy) of Tignish, and Davy of Tignish. Cherished grandfather to: Adam (Heidi) Richard, Brandy (Denton) Rogers, Matthew Richard, Neville Richard and step-grandaughter, Katie Gallant. Great-grandfather to Kate, Lucy and Tucker. Dear brother to: Claudette of Tignish, Carol (Gary) Gallant of Toronto, Gary (Patsy) of Tignish, Aurella (Raymond Arsenault) of Tignish, Kenneth (Verna) of Tignish, Roger (Linda) of Tignish, Audrey (late Adrian) LeClair of Tignish, Dolly (late Irving) Wedge of Tignish, Florence (Pat) Callaghan of Tignish, Leslie (Karen) of Ontario, Irene (late Reg) Gallant of Ontario, Edward ( Marie) of Moncton and Leonard (Julia) of Tignish. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, JoAnne Peters of O'Leary, Peggy (Joey) Aylward of Pleasant View, David (Nan) Perry of Summerside, Betty Ann (Ed) Williams of Newfoundland, Donnie (Mary) Perry of DeBlois and Paula (John) Dennis of Stratford. He was predeceased by brothers, Ivan, Junior, Jackie, and in infancy, Kenneth, and Aurella, his grandson Andy Richard, and his mother and father-in-law, Russell and Rosetta (nee Gallant) Perry. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday morning, January 18th, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant.Interment later in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the Tignish Seniors Coop Home or to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
