Kathleen Woodford passed away on January 3, 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 83 years. Kathleen was born in Grandois on February 6, 1933. The first born of Edward and Alice Alyward, she grew up on Fishot Island with her four sisters Teresa, Josephine, Marie and Gertie and three brothers Francis, Edward and John. Kathleen met the love of her life while teaching in Conche. James Woodford and Kathleen were married on July 19 1953. Tragically, James died at an early age while relocating the family to Goose Cove, leaving Kathleen to raise 13 children. Kathleen was always very devoted to her faith and family. She was at her happiest when the family were around her, especially on a Sunday, when everyone gathered at Mom’s for dinner. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children Leone, Josephine (Dan), Mary (John), Beth (Cyril), Alice (Wade), Bertha (Gregory), Matilda (Mark), Terry, Edward (Wendy Dale), Darren (Debbie), Wanda (David), James (Coleen), and Keith (Gaye); 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings John (Pauline), Francis (Bernadette), Josephine (Dorm), Gertie (Ambrose), and Marie (Bill); sister-in-law Mildred McGrath as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband James, son Edward, her parents Edward and Alice, brother Edward, sisters Loretta and Theresa and son-in-law Dennis Troy. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral which took place on Friday, January 6 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Lourdhu officiating. Cremation followed with burial taking place at another date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
