Gerald Anthony Stuart
September 8th, 1924 -January 13th, 2017
Our kind and gentle husband, father/grandpa and great grandpa passed away peacefully January 13th, 2017 at the age of 92. He was a loving husband of 55 years to Mabel with whom he shared a life devoted to his family, friends, community and church. Blessed to have had him as their father are his children, Leo Grimard (Jacqueline), Leona Strelioff (Henry), Paul Grimard (Camille), Lyle Stuart (Fiona), Gordon Stuart (Carole). Dad understood what it meant to be a true Christian and that is how he lived his life. His faith was strong and the greatest gift he shared with his family. We thank him for this gift; it has kept us strong during this time and will continue to do so for many years. Twelve grandchildren who spent many happy hours with him are; Paula Fournier (Jason), Matthew Grimard (Dana), Mila Baker (John), Evan Strelioff (Dana), Rene' Grimard (Angel), Celine Grimard, Jeremy Grimard, Jade, Ariel, Kaleb and Garron Stuart, and Samantha Van Noy. He also took tremendous pride in the birth of his six great grandchildren, Andre', Dominic and Mikelle Fournier, Ella and Kameron Baker and the most recent addition, Luke Strelioff. Gerald was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm with his three brothers near Bracken. He joined the Canadian Armed Services in 1943 and was posted to South Saskatchewan Regiment from September 1944 until the war's end. Upon his return to Canada he studied forestry and took employment with the Saskatchewan Government, Department of Natural Resources (Forestry Branch). During his career most of his work was directed toward reforestation and land evaluation. Gerald was a member of Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Bessie (Crump): brothers, Don, Paul and twin brother Jerome. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday, January 20 at two oclock with Rev. Father Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rose Garden Hospice (rosegardenhospice@gmail.com). Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, and Tracy-Lynn Switzer, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
