Pauline Dennis, 54, of 4686 Shore Rd., Eskasoni, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the QEII Hospital, Halifax. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Susie Jane (Dennis) Marshall and Levi Joe and raised by her great grandmother, the late Mary Kiju Googoo, until Pauline’s adulthood. She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Pauline was involved at the Elder’s Centre including the Elder Bingo and Committee matters. She was deeply committed to her faith and was often providing the final Mi’kmaq prayers in the community. Pauline also did several years as a homecare worker. Her many friends at the Dialysis Unit of the CBRH will miss her. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she treated as her own children and they in turn loved as a parent. Pauline is survived by brothers, Louis (Marjorie) Marshall, Paul (Charlene) Nicholas, Vincent Joe, Ryan (Hazel) Googoo and stepbrother, Michael Sapier, all of Eskasoni; sisters, Patricia (James) Simon, Mary Catherine (Stephen) Christmas, Rose Marshall, Veronica Joe (Frank), all of Eskasoni, Eleanor (Charlie) Joe, Membertou, Delores Googoo, Montreal; extended family members, Viney Sapier and her family and by numerous godchildren, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Roddie and Matilda Googoo; godmother, Lena Joe; sisters, Theresa, Mary T., Isabel and brothers, Joseph and Noel. Visitation for Pauline Dennis will begin after 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment at a later date.
