It is with broken hearts and immense gratitude that we bid farewell to Gerard (Turk) Murphy. He will always remain the rock of our family and a constant reminder of the power of humility and strength. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Murphy and sister Margaret Browne. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Catherine (Nolander), children Fred, Susan Quinn (Todd) and Gerry. Poppy's pride and joy are his three grandchildren Robyn Quinn Moffatt (Grant), Adam and Amy Murphy. He never missed a graduation, dance recital, soccer game, music concert or any chance to share quality time with them. Also mourning his loss are his brother and close friend Fred Murphy (Elizabeth) and sister Mary Bushdorf (Bob) Wash. USA, sister-in-law Monica O'Brien, brother-in-law Ron Nolander, along with many dear nieces and nephews, especially special nephew Jarrett Murphy. After retiring from Marine Atlantic with 44 years of service, Gerry led a full life volunteering with various charities. He is Past President of the Kiwanis Music Festival and a very proud active alumnae of St. Bonaventure's College. He was a proud supporter of the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE). Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Kiwanis Music Festival or QVE. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. from Mary Queen of Peace Parish. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in his memory to the Kiwanis Music Festival or to the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble.
