Kevin Rowe

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Kevin William Rowe, on January 19th, 2017. He passed away peacefully with his loving and dedicated wife by his side and with joy in his heart. Kevin felt great comfort in knowing that his four children made it home to brighten his final days and send him off to heaven surrounded with love and laughter.
The youngest of five siblings, Kevin was born in Sydney on September 23, 1945, just minutes after his twin brother Gerard. He is predeceased by his parents Wesley and Cecilia (MacDonald ) Rowe, his nephew Kevin (2016), and his brother Billy, who died in infancy.
Kevin was a dedicated and caring husband to his wife of forty-four years, Noreen (McMahon), who together built a strong and closely knit family. His four children, Francis (Marlis), London, England; Paul (Bonnie), Vancouver, BC; Cathy (Scott Quinn), Hatchet Lake, NS and Gerard (Deirdre), Aggenys, South Africa, will keep memories of their father alive through their shared love of storytelling. Of all of his many accomplishments in life, Kevin was most proud of his four children. He beamed with pride at the simple mention of their names, knowing that while they may live all over the world, they still consider 69 Shandwick Street home.
Kevin worked for many years in the rail mill at Sydney Steel and retired as maintenance director at MacGillivray Guest Home. He was dedicated to his community & his church St. Marguerite
Bourgeoys Parish where he served as a Eucharistic minister & a Cub Scout Leader. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1060. As well, he served for a number of years on the board of directors for Cape Breton Transition House.
Kevin is survived by his twin brother, Gerard (Mary); his brothers,Donald (Joanne), Gareth (Donna), and his sister, Catherine White (Tony deceased), his eleven grandchildren, Wesley, Molly & Tilly Rowe; Alexa, Nicholas, Hailey & Zachary Rowe; Joanna, Callum, Lauchlan Quinn and baby Oisin Rowe, will always know how deeply they were loved by their one and only Gramps.
Uncle Kevin will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Neil (Marie) McMahon, Cathy (Watson) Andrews, Janine (Terry) Shannon, Margaret Ann (Clifford) Morrison & his mother-in-law, Cleo McMahon.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Kings Rd. Sydney River on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 2:30 p.m. with Father Bill Burke officiating.
