Cyril Methodius Cremo, 71, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born July 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Simon and Ann P. (Denny) Cremo.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni.
Matthew was a bus driver for over 30 years with the Eskasoni School Board and a Medical Taxi Driver for over 10 years. In his early years Matthew enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed watching all his grandchildren play hockey and baseball as well as attend his granddaughter’s ballet recitals; he attended every family event and was often the first to arrive. He was a member of his brother Lee’s band. Matthew loved music and singing Johnny Cash songs. He was known affectionately by his close friends as ‘Bobby Hull’ and or ‘Johnny Cash’.
He is survived by three sons, Noel R. Julian, Cyril Cremo Jr. (Lesley), Clifford Cremo Sr. (Bonnie) and a daughter, Audrey Ann Cremo (Daniel), all of Eskasoni. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Desiree, Sherman, Summer, Kristen, Michael, Ann Jasmine, Noelle, Tad, Austin, Taylor, Clifford Jr., Adara, Diandra, Cassie, Danté, Maddox; 11 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Adrianna, Jacob, Janae, Jacen, Ryleigh Ann, Brooklyn, Jordan, Berry, Red and Elsa; godchildren, Mary Ellen Paul, Earl Young, Mary Denny, Keeley Herney, Melody Paul and by numerous nieces and nephews. Matthew was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Tina Cremo (Peck); two sisters, Hazel Helen and Mary Josephine and by nine brothers, John G., Lee Harvey, Simon Peter, Noel, Leo Joseph, Clifford A.; Peter Joseph, Michael Joseph and Clifford Joseph.
Visitation will begin after 7 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 18 Cremo’s Lane, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
