It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear uncle, Peter Campbell, on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care at the age of 94. Born in Frenchvale on July 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Angus and Effie (MacIntyre) Campbell. Peter was a lumberman for most of his life and enjoyed the many years he worked with Hugh McInnis at the lumber mill in Frenchvale. He was an avid gardener who looked forward to the warm weather and planting his potatoes in his backyard garden. Peter had a genuine interest in the lives of family and friends, making his home a warm and welcoming place to visit.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s parish in Frenchvale. He is survived by his nephew, Joe (Rosella) Campbell, Sydney; niece, Ann Marie (Dan) MacLean, Sydney River; Grand nephews and grand nieces, Allan (Sherry Lynn) Campbell, Dartmouth, Shaun (Shawna Lee) Campbell, Amherst, Joelle (Shaun) Crawley, Sydney, Danielle (Joel) Ives, PEI, Ryan Campbell, Phoenix, Arizona, Amber (Allie) Brown, Calgary and by his ten great nephews and great nieces. Besides his parents Peter was predeceased by four brothers, Hughie (Mary Margaret), Norman, Alex, Joseph; his sister, Mary (Michael MacInnis) and his nephews, John Alex Campbell and Pat Mahar. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and residents of Soldier’s Cove Harbourstone Enhanced Care for the love and care shown to Peter. Visitation for Peter will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
