Passed on: January 20th, 2017

1929 - 2017
Gwen, 87, of Riverview passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, January 20th. Gwen was a kind and compassionate soul and a great gift to her family and friends. She was born in Halifax on June 20th, 1929, the daughter of the late Arthur Duffy and Muriel Duffy (nee Fraser). Gwen was a proud graduate of the former Queen Elizabeth High school in Halifax. She was a loving mother to four children and grandmother to two perfect grandchildren. She was able to live in three of the Atlantic Provinces where she made many friends and memories. She loved to express and share her gift of creativity with her family and friends through painting, gardening, and sewing, among others. Her creativity was one way for her to be in this world and highlight the beauty and hope we sometimes neglect or find hard to see. Gwen so enjoyed her time working at the fabric store Buttons and Bows in Riverview and the relationships she built there. Despite Gwen's many life challenges she always looked for the good and encouraged others to do the same. She was married 54 years to Lorne Rogers and was the center of his life. Her grandchildren Scott and Thomas were a source of great joy and pride. Her numerous friends knew her as fun-loving, generous and kind with a wonderful sense of humour who valued their many get to togethers. She was the beloved mother of Steven Rogers (Ottawa), Paul Rogers (predeceased), Karen Rogers (Riverview) and Chris Rogers (Riverview), and the cherished Nanny of Scott Lloyd (Toronto) and Thomas Lloyd (Riverview) and loved mother-in-law of Ian Lloyd (Riverview). The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand, The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains... For every gift that passes, something beautiful remains.
