It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick Arnold Martin age 71, of Summerside, PEI announce his passing on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Prince County Hospital, Summerside with his family by his side. Frederick was a federal government employee for over 35 years, and an active volunteer at The College of Piping in Summerside, PEI. After retiring in 2005, Fred enjoyed some time off before rejoining the workforce 5 years ago in the service department at Canadian Tire in Summerside. He found great joy in being Papa to his 3 grandchildren, Sophie, Bailey, and Reilly and spending time with his other two best friends, Sammy the cat, and Zeus the dog. Fred will be sadly missed by his wife Patsy (Elliott), his daughter Tricia (Andy) Wilson of Quispamsis, NB, son Christopher (Lin) of Cornwall, PEI, three grandchildren Sophie, Bailey and Reilly Wilson, his twin brother Frank (Diane) of Ajax, ON and Clayton (Odette) of Amherst, sisters Carol Uhlman and Nini (Brian) MacDonald both of Amherst, Barbara Reid of Saint John, NB, and Gloria Martin of Parrsboro, brothers in law David (Kelly) Elliott of Abbotsford, BC and Scott (Barb) Elliott of Halifax, NS, sister in law Peggy O’Brien of Amherst and her daughter Alanna (PJ) Makinen of Bedford, NS, a cousin Ken Cormier of Shediac, NB (who was like a brother to Fred) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Frederick Sr., brother Camille Gaudet, father in law Ron Elliott, mother in law Yvonne Elliott and brothers in law Ronnie Brian Elliott and James O’Brien. A funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Amherst. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-9906). Memorial donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
