JAMES, Gordon Edward -75, of Beaver River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Toronto, ON, September 4, 1941 he was the son of the late Hugh and Olive James, Toronto, ON. Gordon lived most of his life in Ontario before moving with his family to Beaver River, NS, in 1982. Along with his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his siblings Betty Sheehan, George James, and Marie Clarke. Gordon is survived by his wife, Theresa (Jeddry); his three children, Brenda (Brian) Flowers, of Bradford, ON; Brian (Aletha) James, of Hunts Point, NS; and Alan (Sjanna) James, of Gavelton, NS; his ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Tom (Marie) Clarke, and several nieces and nephews. In Ontario, Gordon worked as a carpenter managing a cabinet making company and as a maintenance mechanic at a large manufacturing company. In Nova Scotia, he continued working as a carpenter until his retirement. Gordon enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles with his sons, woodworking projects, tinkering in his workshop, and fixing and restoring things. Throughout his life he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and photography. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, January 26th, 2017 from 7-9 PM in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service was held on Friday, January 27th at 2:00 PM at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Pastor Craig Minard officiated. Interment took place following the service at Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the V.O.N, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or charity of choice.
