Davis, Glendon M. ‘Glennie’ - Age 69, of Lower Five Islands, Colchester County passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at home. Born in Lower Five Islands, he was a son of the late Roland and Elsie (Eagles) Davis. He was employed for many years with J.W. Lindsay Enterprises in Dartmouth. He later owned and operated Davis’ Gas Bar in Lower Five Islands. Glennie was dedicated member of the Five Islands Fire Department for 50 years, where he served as chief for many years, most recently having been voted in for a further term. Glennie was proud of his entire family, but particularly grandchildren, Christopher and Hayden who were a great inspiration to him through his battle with cancer these past 5 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Allen; his children, Gillian, Lower Five Islands; Glendon (Hilda), Five Islands; Dean (Carol), Scott, Darren (Shelley), Sherry Nickerson, all of Lower Sackville; David (Denise), Bedford; brothers, Mark (Judy), Amherst; Lou (Margaret), Truro; Harold (Donna), London, Ont.; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Berton, Perry in infancy. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 1 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Five Islands Fire Hall, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Reception to follow at the Fire Hall.
