GERBRANDT
Michael John Henry Gerbrandt, aged 42 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away in the San Javier Marina Hospital in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Saturday, February 4th, 2017. He was born on September 14th, 1974 in Herbert, SK to Clarence and Terrill (Bauck) Gerbrandt. After graduating from Chaplin High School in 1992, Michael went on to become a Journeyman Heavy-Duty Mechanic at SIAST Kelsey Campus in Saskatoon. After working as a mechanic, and a sales person, Michael went on to pursue his passion as a full-time farmer with his brother Dean as his partner. Together they farmed with their parents and continued to build their 4th generation family farm to where it is today. On October 16th, 1999, Michael married Julie Street and went on to begin their family in 2001. They brought three amazing children into the world: Janaya, Kianna, and Joel. Although Mike had many successes and passions in his life, his family was the centre of his world. It was very obvious how deeply Michael cared about Julie and the children and that he had a unique and special bond with each one of them. Words cannot describe what an unbelievable person Michael was! He was an amazing husband, father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was a smart and successful farmer who had a true love for the outdoors. Michael was a Confirmed member of the Chaplin Lutheran Church. He was an active volunteer and passionate member on several boards and clubs such as: the R.M of Chaplin, Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, Sask Party, the Palliser Regional Park Board, Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club and various related committees, as well as many others throughout his life. Michael spent every day like it was his last. He spent countless hours tinkering in the shop and yard. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish, ride snow mobiles, watch Roughrider games, play hockey, and spend time with his buddies. Above all else, Michael lived for his family. He enjoyed spending time on the boat, around the camp fire, and taking family vacations. He shared his passions with his children and he loved his wife so dearly. Michael will be forever remembered for his quick wit, his pranks, and his sense of humour. He continuously lit up a room with his stories and brought happiness to everyone in his company. Everyone who knew Mike will truly miss him as he acknowledged each individual in a special and funny way. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Aileen Bauck, and John and Mary Gerbrandt. Michael is survived by his wife, Julie Gerbrandt; children: Janaya, Kianna, and Joel Gerbrandt; parents, Clarence and Terrill Gerbrandt; brother, Dean (Julie) Gerbrandt and their family; sister, Lacey (Matt) Owens and their family; grandfather, Henry (Silvia) Bauck; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Shelly Street; brother-in-law, Rick; as well as many aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services are pending and details will be announced once confirmed. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for Michael’s family at the Bank of Montreal in Moose Jaw, called “Gerbrandt Trust”. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
