Martha White (nee Bruce)

Born: November 11th, 1947

Passed on: February 9th, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha White announce her passing at Alison's Manor, Conception Bay South, NL on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the age of 69 years. Originally from Jersey Side, NL and residing most of her life in Dunville, NL, Martha loved the simple things in life, most notably nature and all of it's beauty, colorful flowers, and birds, especially her pet cockatiels. As a young mother, Martha spent much of her time watching her boys play minor softball, and was a very involved member of the St. Anne's Academy School community where her boys attended school. Martha truly enjoyed summer vacations spent with her two children, partaking in activities including strawberry U-Pick and relaxing with her boys at various beaches and cabins in her home Newfoundland. Martha was a wonderful cook and baker, spending much time baking with her niece Shyama McWhirter, and truly cherished the opportunity of sharing a meal with family and friends. Martha also spent countless nights with her boys watching televised sports, becoming quite versed in both the New York Mets and Montreal Canadiens, never missing a play and celebrating with her children as each team achieved World Championships during their childhoods. Such are the memories that will never fade. Leaving to mourn with fond memories her sons Paul Michael White, Jason (Amanda Collier), grandson Brandyn, and husband Paul White; her siblings Anna Marie (Chuck) Morrow, Alice (Randy) McWhirter, Cathy (Bill) Hayter, Willie (Brenda), Pat (Genny), Richard (Rita), and Michael; her in-laws Mary (Joe) Penney, Helen (Ed) Flynn, Judy (Gus) Melbourne, Betty White, Bill (Marie) White, Ed (Ellen Theresa) White, Gerry (Jorge) White and mother-in-law Hannah Thomey, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving parents Michael and Betty Bruce of Jersey Side, and sister Joanie Bruce. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Martha's life at Maher's Funeral Home in Placentia on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM, with a funeral mass to be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11 AM at the Church of St. Anne in Dunville, NL.
