Stella Mae Carpenter went to be with the Lord after a brief illness at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on February 10, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Stella was one of 11 children born to Charles and Miriam Simms. She is survived by her daughters Ella (Pearce), Edith (Calvin) Coles, and Melva Simms (Alonzo Drover); her son Tobe Carpenter (Juliette Pottinger); grandchildren Maurice Pilgrim (and family), Mario Pilgrim (and daughter), Kim Byrne (and family), Clay Simms (and family), Brad Coles (and family), Krista Simms (and family), Ronnie Carpenter, and Penney Reid (and family). She was predeceased by her husband Tobias Carpenter 38 years ago as well by her special friend, Raymond Budgell, 20 years ago. Stella was a lifelong resident of St. Anthony and a long-time member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church. She will be greatly missed but leaves us all with a lifetime of treasured memories. Visitation took place at Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home and the Bethel Pentecostal Church, St. Anthony from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bessey officiating. Interment followed in the Old Anglican Cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral services were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
