VACON, Clarence Joseph – age 90, Quinan, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 1, 1926 in Quinan, he was a son of the late Jerome and Josephine (Muise) Vacon. Clarence was a woodsman and also did some work as a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and he loved telling jokes. He is survived by his children, Stella Deveau (Richard Thibeau), Mayflower; Carol Ann Nickerson, Salmon River; Janice Vacon (Doug Blanchard), Springhaven; Junior Vacon (Angela Deveau), Mayflower; Darlene Vacon (Gerald Pothier), Wedgeport; David Vacon, Mayflower; Danny Vacon (Jean Boyd), Lake Doucette; Susanne Vacon (Josh Corporon), Port Maitland; Dennis Vacon (Amber Wells), Melbourne, as well as 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister, Theresa Landry, Ontario. Also surviving are his two former wives, Lorraine Vacon and Jane Jacquard. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Eileen Rose, in infancy, as well as by sisters Freeda, Neomise, Frances, Pauline and Estelle; brothers, Everett, Alcide and Clifford. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 15 from Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Tri-County Site of the VON.
