Witty, Richard Edward (Dick), 74, Truro, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his wife and son on the morning of Sunday, February 12, 2017, following a lengthy illness, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Morecambe, Lancashire, England, he was a son of the late Richard and Cecelia (Skelton) Witty. A retired Chief Engineer in the marine service both in England and Canada, he enjoyed a remarkable career extending over a period in excess of 40 years.
He leaves to mourn his wife Judy; son Mark (Sinéad), grandsons Liam King, Tierney and Jack Witty.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Peter Edward John Witty (Nov. 9, 2015).
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by request. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 18th at 2 pm in St. Andrew’s United Church, Truro with Rev. Boyd Vincent officiating. No flowers by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
