STELLARTON - Jean Lillian Sangster, 90, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the manor.
Born in New Harbour, she was a daughter of the late George Tupper and Katherine Margaret (Lowe) Luddington.
Following graduation from business school, Jean was employed as a secretary with the First Aid Office at the former Eastern Car Company, Trenton, Sobey’s Head Office and the former Steel Furnishing Company. In later years, she was employed as a private homecare provider. Jean taught Sunday school for over 30 years, had been secretary/treasurer of the Women’s Ministries and member of the Fifty Plus club with the former Calvary Temple Church, New Glasgow and a faithful supporter of the former Life Centre, New Glasgow. She was a member of The Gideon’s Pictou County Camp Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Jean was a lady who possessed an unwavering faith in her Lord.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, H. Watson Sangster, New Glasgow; daughter, Sonya Sangster, Stellarton; sisters, Evelyn Willett, Truro; Ina Burke, Dartmouth; brothers-in-laws, Alex Sangster and Douglas MacKay, New Glasgow; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Irma Sangster and Eileen Wilson; brother, Roland Luddington; sisters-in-law, Frances Luddington, Genesta Uloth, Dorothy Sangster, Gertie Sangster and June MacKay; brothers-in-law, Larry Willett, Harold Wilson, Wally Burke, Roscoe Uloth, Elliott Sangster and Stewart Sangster.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Keith Hazzard officiating. Spring interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Whispering Tide, for their loving care of Jean during her time at Glen Haven Manor.
