Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Pleasant View Towers John (Hop) Frederick Penney age 81 years. Predeceased by his wife Genevieve (Doll) in 2002 and his parents Jack and Frances Penney as well as step-brother Herb Evans and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Left to mourn sons Jim (Jessie), John (Michelle), Ted (Robyn) and daughter Judy Maher (Tony); also grandchildren Krystle Williams (Mark), Jennifer and Jacqueline Penney, Samantha and Joshua Penney; five great-grandchildren Cameron and Brody Penney, Lydia and Anna Williams and Mariah Penney; brothers Edward Penney, William Penney (Joan) and Gerald Penney (Mary); sisters Bernice Penney (George) and Mildred Serna; step-sister Yvonne Murphy (John); step-brother Alec Young (Maureen), as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a huge appreciation to the staff of 4 South West, Pleasant View Towers and North 2A of the Waterford Hospital for their loving care and kindness over so many years. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral at 11:30 a.m. on Monday from Caul's Chapel with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland Chapter.
