David Stephen Poulette, 67, of 365 Castle Bay Road, Eskasoni, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Stephen and Ann Madeline (Sylliboy) Poulette. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni. David was a champion horseshoe competitor, loved to go fishing and made many Christmas wreaths over the years. He worked at Crane Cove Seafood’s and was a fisherman most of his life. He dabbled with music playing the guitar with his brothers and friends. Bingo was a big part of David’s pastimes. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Gould; daughters, Charlotte Anne, Claudia (Joey), Mag (Duma), Cheryl (Danny), Amanda, Melissa (Stuart), Irene (Myles), Elizabeth Rose, Marianna, all of Eskasoni; sons, Alphonse (Annie), Brad, Curtis (Shaelene), Kevin (Jasine), all of Eskasoni; Wilfred ‘Jr.’ (Olivia), Whycocomagh, David Jr. (Stacey), Eskasoni; sisters, Rosie and Nancy, both of Eskasoni; Martha, Truro; brothers, Benjamin (Bridgette), Levi and Howard, all of Eskasoni and Maynard (Gina), Whycocomagh. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 godchildren Cindy, Molly and Valerie and by numerous nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Catherine (Marshall), his son Buford ‘B.J.’; daughter, Sandra, 3 grandchildren Thomas Ryan, Kendra and Sienna; brothers, Charlie, Francis, Walter and sister, Betty.
Visitation for Mr. Poulette will begin after 7 p.m. in the family residence at 365 Castle Bay Road, Eskasoni on Monday, February 20, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
