Shirley Marie Randell (nee Bursey)

Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on February 16, 2017 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is pre-deceased by her adoring husband Al, parents Eric and Stella Bursey, parents-in-law Ernest and Gladys Randell, brothers Eric and Bruce, brother-in-law Reg Randell and sisters-in-law, Neva Wendt and Juanita Butler. Leaving to mourn this terrible loss are her children Carolyn Jackman (Ed), Jim Randell (Elaine), and Barbara Randell, grandson Alan (Stacy), precious great-granddaughter, Sami Rebecca Jackman, grandson Colin Jackman and granddaughter Rebecca Jackman, brother Gerald (Celia) Bursey, loving sister Gay (Walt) Fiander, brother Bill Bursey (Sheila), sister-in-law Bev Bursey, treasured nieces Shirley, Beth and Brenda and nephew Lorne as well as a large circle of other nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves to mourn special friend Edna Spence. Shirley was a proud graduate of the General Hospital School of nursing and worked as an OR nurse at the Janeway Children's Hospital until her retirement. She was a woman of many talents; she loved to sew and quilt, knit and crochet. She and Husband Al loved to travel in their motor home, and she traveled many parts of the world with friends and family. She loved her weekly card club of 50 years. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Saturday, Feb. 18th and Sunday, Feb. 19th from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will take place on Monday, Feb. 20th at 11:00 am from Barrett's Chapel. Reception will follow funeral service in Barrett's Reception Lounge.
