After a brave and defiant fight, William "John" Dunsford, age 79, of South Melville, succumbed to his cancer at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, on February 17th, 2017. John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy (nee Crosby), daughter Deborah, sons Darrin (Doug Ellis), and Jason, sister Ruth MacNevin (Sheldon), ever faithful companion Chance, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. John was preceded in death by his parents William and Gertrude, and brothers Stanley and Howard. John was a kind and loving family man, and friend to all. He always wore a little grin and had a story to share, and would drop everything to help friends and neighbors in need. Farming was his life's passion and he tirelessly worked the land and tended his herd until his illness forced him to stop just a few short months before his passing. He was loved in life, let us not forget him after death. A memorial to celebrate John's life will be held in the spring. A further announcement will be made. There will be no visitation by personal request. A special thank you to the staff of the Provincial Palliative Care Centre and the Cancer Treatment Centre for their loving care and support.
