He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Beulah (Benedict) in 2013. Gerald was born in Millers Creek, and was the son of the late Bertram and Alderada (Margison) MacBurnie. Gerald was raised in Poplar Grove, attended high school in Windsor and worked on various farms in Windsor and Belmont area, prior to moving to Eastern Passage during the Second World War. He and Beulah returned to Poplar Grove in 1944 and lived there until her death and subsequently his move to the nursing home. A life-long member of the Poplar Grove and Avondale United Church’s, he served as an Elder for over fifty years and continued in fund raising and church maintenance projects throughout his long retirement. Although a quiet man, he made many friends and acquaintances through his long life and always had a good word and friendly approach to all he met. Special thanks to all the staff at the Windsor Elms Village, especially those in the Meadowview unit, as they became his extended family for his last years.
