Passed peacefully away on February 22nd, 2017 at the Miller Centre, St. John's in the presence of his loving family, Azariah (Azzie) Smith, age 78. Eldest son of the late John and Marjorie Smith. Predeceased by brother David, sister Judith Murray, mother-in-law Theresa Crawley and brother-in-law Andy Crawley. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his loving wife of 58 years, Gabrielle; two sons, Roy (Bernadette), Ron (Bonita); two daughters, Michelle (Michael Morrell), Bonnie Stokes (Craig); eight grandchildren, Steve (Emma Brewster), Ashley, Jillian George (Scott), Melissa (Tyler Hogan), Andrew, Rebecca, Alex and Theresa; brother Randy (Iris Partridge); sisters, Debby Pinto (Gary), Sherri Ryan (Brian Davis); brother-in-law James Murray; aunts, Kathleen Gregory, Betty Wiseman; the Crawley family and a large number of other relatives and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors - camping, fishing and hunting. He had a great sense of humour, loved to play the accordion and could tell a good joke. He worked as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union local 512. Special thanks to the many doctors, the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, the staff at home and community care, and the home care workers who helped in his final days. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Friday, February 24th, 2017. Funeral service will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 11 am.
