Evelyn White

Age 88, of Halifax passed away peacefully February 17, 2017 surrounded by family and friends in Arborstone Enhanced Care Centre. Born in Wentworth Creek (Windsor), Hants County, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Wells and Gladys (Shay) Young.

After attending high school, she went onto graduate as a registered nurse from the Payzant Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Windsor where she met her husband, Maurice. Her career took her to places such as Quebec, Ontario, and Halifax.

She is survived by her devoted loving husband of 64 years, Maurice; daughters Diane (Monte Boylen) Centreville, Kings County and Marlene, Halifax. Two cherished grandchildren, Luke (Brandi) Boylen Centreville Ryan Boylen Lethbridge, great granddaughter Kiara, sisters Patricia (Torben) Kjarsgaard and Gladys (Larry) Aston and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her sister Lola Bivand; brothers John Wells, Robert Wells and Bill Young.

Evelyn was a friend to many, had a warm smile and a sense of humour. She had a lifelong thirst for learning. Other hobbies were knitting, painting, pottery and gardening.

For fifty-three years she was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witnesses and received much joy being involved in the Bible-education work.

By request of the family there will be no formal visitation period. Private messages of condolences or telephone calls would be welcomed. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of Canada or the Diabetes Society of Nova Scotia.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the love and care Mom has received from the past and present staff of Arborstone.

All are welcome to a Memorial planned for February 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 210 Parkland Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
