It is with regret that we announce the passing of Eliza Annie Goodwin in her 90th year on February 21, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on November 23, 1926 she was a daughter to the late John and Ruth (Hayes) Goodwin. Eliza was employed in the dry cleaning industry all of her working life; starting out with The Valetor Dry Cleaners and later CPH Dry Cleaners where she worked for over 20 years until her health did not allow. She took great pride in her job, always enjoying a chat with regular customers. Eliza was a dedicated long-time member of the Zion United Baptist Church where she served in the Woman’s Guild for many years. Having no children of her own she cherished her nieces and nephews and took great joy in being a part of their lives since the day they were born. Eliza was kind, generous, always ready for a good laugh, and never missed a chance to play BINGO. But most of all she enjoyed time spent with family and friends over the years. Besides her parents she is predeceased by brother, Ivan Goodwin; sisters, Ina, Violet, Jane and Mary; sister-in-law, Nancy Goodwin; brother-in-law, Russell Manser; and nephew Charles Manser. She is survived by brother, Sam Goodwin, Yarmouth; nieces, Cindy d’Eon, West Pubnico; Patti d’Entremont, Heidi Crowell and nephew Danny Manser, all of Yarmouth; nephew, Jackie Goodwin, British Columbia; loyal friend, Elaine MacDonald, Yarmouth. Eliza also leaves behind special friends, Betty Sollows and Lois LeCain, of Villa St. Joseph du Lac, Dayton. Special thanks to Sister Poirier and the caring staff of the Villa St. Joseph du Lac, where Eliza resided for the last five years. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service was held Friday February 24, 2017 at 11 A.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Donald Moses officiated. Interment will take place in the spring in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or the Yarmouth SPCA.
