NEW GLASGOW – Madonna Marie “Donna” (MacArthur) Mills, 61, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Mary Catherine Elizabeth “Kay” (Turnbull) and the late James Edward MacArthur. Prior to marriage, Donna was employed with the Pictou County Planning Commission for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. In 1979, Donna met her soulmate, Sam and began a new chapter in her life, filled with happiness and adventure. She and Sam were blessed to have a daughter, Malyssa. Throughout Malyssa’s school years, Donna volunteered in the special needs classrooms in the schools where Malyssa attended. She fondly remembered “the kids” to whom she gladly gave a listening ear. Donna enjoyed reading, writing, crocheting and going to the beach to listen to the sound of the ocean, her “peaceful place.” On February 23, 2017, Donna came to the end of her earthly journey, entering her eternal home where peace, rest, Sam and eternal happiness awaited her. For Donna, life has only changed, not ended.
Surviving are daughter and best friend, Malyssa, New Glasgow; mother, Kay MacArthur, Stellarton; brother-in-law, Barry “BD” Mills, Port Hilford; nephew, Nicholas Mills, Port Hilford; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her husband, Sam; father and mother-in-law, Doug and Mona Mills.
