W. Marie Holden Gordon Hickey

W. Marie Holden Gordon Hickey, of Sherwood, P.E.I., died on Friday, March 3rd, 2017. Born in Leigh, Lancashire, England, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Leo (1935) and Gladys Holden (1964). Predeceased by her older sister Sheila Holden (1946), her stepfather Thomas W. Holden (1961) and her grandson Colin Gordon (2013). Marie was the wife of the late Donald Gordon (1978) and T. Earle Hickey (1994). Marie will be deeply missed by her family: Ewan and Heather Gordon (Fernie, B.C.); Margaret and Dr. Gary Grant (Montrose, N.S.); Alan Gordon and daughters, Denise and Dr. Danielle Gordon, Alan’s former wife Jocelyne and her son Brendan; Brian (nephew) and Marlene Gordon (Larne, Northern Ireland). Marie was blessed with stepchildren, Dr. Jim and Arlita Hickey (Ottawa, Ontario), Bob Hickey (Bedford, N.S.), Ron and Gloria Hickey (Summerside, P.E.I.). Helen and Don MacKinnon (Grand River, P.E.I.) and Earle Hickey Jr. (Dartmouth, N.S.), 15 step grandchildren and 33 step great grandchildren. Marie also enjoyed a warm, loving relationship with her god-daughter Siobhan Dolan and her husband, Dean Ponce (Chicago, Il.). A host of friends in Canada and internationally will miss her friendship and influence in their lives. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home, 33-35 Longworth Avenue, Charlottetown. Visitation 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 6th. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Parish, 106 St. Peters Rd., Charlottetown at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 7th. Interment will be held later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
