Olga (Rolfe) Gallupe

Born: July 25th, 1928

It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, companion and friend Olga Gallupe, on the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney, July 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel (Randell) Rolfe. She was employed at numerous stores on Charlotte Street, she also worked in Calgary and Ontario. Olga was a member of St. Andrew's Parish and the UCW, City Hospital Auxiliary, and Branch 12 Legion. She was instrumental in helping with the building and the fundraising for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She enjoyed watching hockey, fishing, cooking and baking, loved going on road trips and travelling. She had a great sense of humour and was a hard working woman. She will be missed.
Olga is survived by John; her two daughters, Raylene (Robert) Young, Albert Bridge and Juanita (A.J.) Campbell, Mabou; her precious granddaughters, Laura Thompson and Lisa Thompson, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Gallupe; sister, Vera Rolfe; brothers, Aubrey and Raymond Rolfe; three sons in infancy; grandson in infancy, Kirk Ryan; son-in-law, Edmund Ryan and great grandson, Jordie. The family would like to thank the paramedics for taking good care of her and all the staff, nurses, doctors of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion given to Olga during her stay there. Cremation has taken place. There is no visitation or funeral service as per her wishes. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
