Emma Traverse (nee Sooley)

Born: January 11th, 1917

Passed on: March 9th, 2017

Formerly of Hearts Delight,
Trinity Bay, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emma Traverse announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the age of 100 years. Born to Edward John and Elizabeth Sooley of Hearts Delight, NL. Predeceased by husband Chesley; parents; brothers William Sooley and Vince (Gladys) Sooley; son Bram Traverse and son-in-law James Biehn. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Fred (Hazel) Sooley; sister-in-law Mary Sooley; children Anjunette Biehn, Chesley (Linda) Traverse, Daniel (Judy) Traverse and daughter-in-law Barbara Childs; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Emma was a devoted grandmother and was especially happy to hear of a new baby and take up her knitting needles again. The last sweater she knit was in 2012 when she was 95. She showed a real interest in people and once she learned about the bibles hope for mankind to live on a paradise earth, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and she was baptized in the spring of 1961. John 5:28,29 was especially dear to her heart - looking forward to seeing her loved ones resurrected on earth, it had to be on earth she reasoned; because there is no death in heaven. She wanted others to know these things and to have this hope as she did, for that reason; she diligently visited people from door to door and spoke of her beliefs to anyone she met in her travels. A special thanks to Dr. Westby and the Nursing Staff at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre for taking exceptional care of our mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday, between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Premier Drive with David Reid officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the old Jehovah's Witness Cemetery in Pasadena. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall.
